A burglar has been jailed for more than eight years after breaking into a home in Bushey and assaulting an occupant. Kiel St Cyr, aged 31, of Rickmansworth Road in Watford, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday 5 May. He was sentenced to eight years and nine months imprisonment for aggravated burglary. The court heard that at around 4.50am on Thursday 4 December 2025, St Cyr broke into a home in Heathfield Road. The occupants were upstairs asleep and one of them – a man aged in his 50s – was woken by the disturbance. He went downstairs to investigate and found St Cyer holding his rucksacks and looking through cupboards. The victim asked St Cyer to leave the house but instead he picked up a drill. He then used the drill to hit the victim multiple times on the head. The victim fell to the floor and St Cyr fled the house. Police quickly identified St Cyr as a suspect and he was arrested at his home address the same morning. Officers found numerous items that had been stolen during the aggravated burglary.
